The Historical Peninsula of Istanbul (2days)

If this is your first time to Istanbul, you’ll be spending most of your time in this area. Simply because it is home to most of the unamicable and well-known sights. The ancient peninsula of Istanbul is the area south of the Golden Horn and consists of districts such as Beyazıt, Eminönü, Fatih, Kumkapı, Sirkeci, Süleymaniye, Sultanahmet, and Tahtakale. Underneath you can find an overview of the ones you may (unknowingly) wander around in as a tourist.

Itinerary

You are going to see the world beyond history. You will witness full of art, history, and religion throughout this tour. You will be captivated by the ancient capital of the Ottoman and Byzantine Empire.

Day 2 – Istanbul Tour(by walking)

Hippodrome

We will begin our walking tour with the Roman Hippodrome, which dates back to the 2nd century A.D. At this site, you will have the chance to see German Fountain, Obelisk of the Tuthmosis the 3rd, Serpent Column, and the Roman Obelisk.

Underground Cistern (Basilica Cistern)

We will stop and visit the Basilica Cistern, which was built at the same time as Hagia Sofia. In this 6th century structure, you will be able to see the heads of Medusa, which brought here from the temples of Constantinople.

Hagia Sophia

Often referred to as the eighth wonder of the World, the Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya in Turkish) in Sultanahmet is easily one of Istanbul’s most impressive sights. It also must have one of the most turbulent histories of any museum in the world.

Lunch at a local restaurant

Chora Church

istanbul chora churchİstanbul has more than its fair share of Byzantine monuments, but few are as drop-dead gorgeous as this mosaic- and fresco-laden church. Nestled in the shadow of Theodosius II’s monumental land walls and now a museum overseen by the curators of Aya Sofya, it receives a fraction of the visitor numbers that its big sister the famous Aya Sofya attracts but offers equally fascinating insights into Byzantine art.

We come to an end to our 2 Days Istanbul Tour. We hope to see you on a new TB Turkey tour and a new experience.
